Chase away winter blahs -- find joy in the journey!

Winter Blahs? Not this year!

Becky Corrigan

Happy New Year! And just like that, we're knee deep in ice & snow, bills are coming due, the pandemic rages on, the news is bleak… Yikes! Looks like the New Year's here with the winter blahs right behind!

Not this year! Instead, let’s kick back on those negative thoughts to keep mind & body in top condition. A bit naive? Maybe, but research backs me up on this one. According to the NY Times, “studies have shown an indisputable link between having a positive outlook and health benefits like lower blood pressure, less heart disease, better weight control and healthier blood sugar levels.” ¹

How? One thing at a time. As one seer put it, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” Try one (or more) of these:

  • Cultivate that positive outlook with a gratitude journal
  • Do small acts of kindness each day,
  • Flip each negative thought to a more positive view,
  • Connect with friends & family for support – even if it’s by text or video chat.

Challenging? Likely. Worth it? Absolutely!
